Martin PETER, overseer of the poor in Capt. Brownwells Beat has this day bound to Terry BAKER, a farmer, an orphan child named Elizabeth THOMPSON alias Elizabeth LANDSDALE, an orphan child of Louisa McCALLOUGH. 3 Aug. 1846



Florence Annie Bell TOWNLEY, age 4, only child of Joseph W. Townley and Mary Emma WILLIAMS Townley. Mary Emma died in Blocton on 13 Aug 1897. Prior to her death, she resided with her brother William B. WILLIAMS. She died at his home. The child testifies that shortly before her Mother's death, Mary Emma gave her (Florence Annie Bell) to her Uncle William and his wife Rebecca. On 11 Aug 1897, Will MONTGOMERY and his wife Emma MONTGOMERY pretended to adopt as their child the said petitioner. Her father was never notified of the proceedings and did not consent to the adoption. Petitioner (Florence Annie Bell Townley) wishes to stay with her uncle. Jeremiah REACH, Sr. "do hereby make this my declaration of intention to make legitimate and adopt as my lawful heir Jeremiah ALLEN of the county and state aforesaid who is the son of EUNICE ALLEN." He further declares that he is the father of the said Jeremiah Allen that said Jeremiah Allen is a boy of the age of two years and ten months lacking a few days." Name to be Jeremiah Reach, Jr.
